My practice, teaching and research interests are in the field of Advanced Clinical Practice and Patient Experiences. I am concerned with advancing professional knowledge and practice which is tempered with an understanding of the theoretical and epistemological bases of nursing. The programmes that I lead at City University are relevant to the intellectual and vocational needs of individuals in the health care sector and adhere to the principles of life-long learning. Students are encouraged to work with me on research projects in order to enhance their understanding of research methodologies that will increase their expertise as future researchers.

My research demonstrates an underlying philosophy of seeking knowledge which underpins the practice of nursing. My publications reflect a focused programme of research and scholarly activity related to the themes of Advanced Clinical Practice and Patient Experiences.

I have been supervising student research projects since 1987 and invite interested nurses to contact me in relation to development as researchers at masters and doctoral level.
